So I just finished the Kamen Rider Blade: Missing Ace movie for the show's 20th anniversary because why not (brief review and slight spoilers below the cut)

Propaganda for Tachibana Sakuya + Kamijou Mutsuki

"Well you see, Tachibana was having a drug problem because his body was falling apart due to secretly being Kamen Rider Garren, and then the spider killed his girlfriend Sayako. He had anger problems and took vengeance on the spider, eventually killing it so it could become a Kamen Rider transformation card. The teenager Kamijou Mutsuki was a classic case of his parents couldn't care less if he lived or died. They gave him food and water and told him to shut up and stop rebelling. He had angsty flashback over being abandoned in some school's locker as a baby?????? (How did he even get there WTF????? How did his parents not notice he was just gone for so long??? I want to shake their heads like a magic 8 ball to see what excuse they'd roll this time.) So he's a basketball player and he has a girlfriend, Nozomi, who is incredibly patient with him. But his parents don't know/don't care that they make him happy. Although teenagers often complain "my parents don't know me AT ALL", If Mutsuki said that I'd believe him wholeheartedly. Basically, the spider card chooses Mutsuki to possess and through the (often violent, in that Spider!Mutsuki is one-sidedly beating down every other Kamen Rider) process of trying to get Mutsuki control of his body back, Tachibana sees a bit of himself in Mutsuki and decides to end the cycle of neglect. He takes Mutsuki under his wing and they fight together as Kamen Riders. Tachibana stops doing drugs, and he pays attention to Mutsuki, and Mutsuki gains the will to wrest control of himself back from the Spider. I think Tachibana even meets Nozomi, which is more than even Mutsuki's parents have met her? It's been awhile so I could be wrong there but these two were so dysfunctional on their own, it's only by supporting each other that they manage to make it through hurculean struggles. Tachibana gets pulled outside of his grief spiral by paying attention to Mutsuki and unnumbs himself to the small joys the world offers. He also gets into significantly less fights with Kenzaki now. Mutsuki finally has a parental figure who listens to him. That's the most important part. But Tachibana would also block a critical blow for him which is so much more appreciation than Mutsuki's even prepared to handle. It is very late and I enjoyed Blade a lot so even if it's not the best production-wise, at least you get to see two human disasters become family"

NO ONE NEEDS ANOTHER REVIEW OF HOT GIMMICK: GIRL MEETS BOY (or whatever) BUT I NEED TO WRITE MY OWN REVIEW OF THE WHOLE THING

So I hear it's and adaptation of a manga, Idk about the manga, I just know about the effing movie: some hate it, some don't understand what the heck happened, some hate themselves for watching it, and let me tell you, I am all of the previous ones, except I also really love it (not just for how effing beautifully and uniquely the cinematography is) but because it's so effing close to reality, the thing is so close to the truth that it's even cringy and tortuous. It was a ride. With lots of stages. And I'd say you need to be pretty mature to get it (as a whole)

Do I think everything about the movie is right? No. Do I love it? Yes. Why?

We are given this teenage girl, Hatsumi, who is very unconfident, naive, and has absolutely no self esteem. Now, we get three boys: the neighbor with cringy hair, Tachibana, (who obviously likes her but won't be direct and instead goes on annoying her and manipulating her to be his servant (?), he's jealous, he keeps telling her she's his (I know, wtf) and dumb, stupid, idiot (I know, WTF) and manipulates her to kiss him (I know, ew). Then we have this other neighbor with orange hair, who's name I forgot, a famous boy who used to live in the same complex as her and was her childhood friend (until he became famous and left, apparently) he goes back and starts hitting on her, NOW, from the beginning it was pretty obvious (at least to me) that he was the kind of boy who sees naive girls like her and seduces her very easily with some compliments and shit like that, which happens of course. Then we have the big brother, the cutest in my opinion, who's name I also forgot, NOW there was something about the brother being cute and protective that made me consider the possibility of him being another love interest, BUT WTF I DIDN'T MEAN IT and IT HAPPENED wtf. And we also have a very absent mom and a little sister (Akane) who had early sexual intercourse with a boy who wasn't that into her (she ducking deserved better, btw, I mean that should've gotten fixed)

Is any of those boys "perfect"? NO, absolutely no. If you're trying to find out her ideal man following the formula of looking for the most flawless guy (or the first guy to be introduced hehe) you're gonna fail, FIRST because each of them is greatly flawed or has huge cons (Tachibana is a toxic bitch who insults and molests Hatsumi in the beginning, dude with orange hair was literally taking advantage of her, manipulating her for her naiveness and lack of self confidence and self esteem, out something in her drink and after his plan got interrupted by her brother, he video calls her and lures her into showing herself naked, which he of course records cause he wanted revenge for something that she wasn't even involved in, and her big brother turns out to be adopted but that's doesn't change shit y'all they still grew up as siblings like never in a million years should anything happen between the two of them), so yeaj they're all flawed and super inconvenient. BUT THEN that's what it is about, and here is why I loved the movie, in spite of how painful, cringy, frustrating and scary it was:

Hatsumi got an ACTUAL character arc, not just like boohoo she got hurt now she won't trust anybody and she'll be a though girl, NA-AH, after orange-hair dude did what he did, she gets hurt but she also heals (not thanks to the mom btw, but thanks to Tachibana and maybe her brother), and she started to stand up for herself, she would tell Tachibana to shut up and stop calling her idiot (or whatever baka actually means), she started to value her body, and she was in the process of forgiving orange-hair dude while still staying away from him cause gurl he didn't actually care about you. She understood there were people who wouldn't value her and she would need to be the one defending her value. With Tachibana and their relationship, not only does she grow (cause she got more confidence and self esteem after the hope and trust she finds in him) he changes too, he was always kind of a good dude but pretty toxic, but then he's just impulsive (not saying that's good though), let's say he changes in terms of how he treated her. And with her brother, they get to sort out the mess that was going on there, they didn't keep anything to themselves, they both found peace in being siblings and that's healthy (although I do not agree with him kissing her nor with her literally laying on his bed, but in the end he didn't loose control, he did what was right (almost always).

It was a very complex movie, but it was quite simple as well, and I'm happy with the end, although some of the things Tachibana and Hatsumi say are quite cringy, it's a good end. Both Tachibana and Hatsumi know they're not perfect, but Tachibana knows Hatsumi has potential and Hatsumi knows Tachibana is good, they trust each other and are willing to stay together no matter how imperfect things are, WHICH IS AWESOME cause we are told things should be perfect right away, and that's not how things work, you gotta grow together, have faith I each other, accept each other's flaws and bring them closer to their best version, not everyone can commit to that, not everyone can commit to a lifetime of growing and learning and healing and embracing, and these teens did. Also the way they both are enormously conscious they want to belong to each other and own each other at the same time is just beautiful cause that's what love is, belonging to someone and guarding that same someone at the same time, not as a possession, but as a treasure. Wtf is hecking beautiful, and people hate it because there's ugly, complicated things about it, but reality is shaped with ugly and complicated things too, that's why this movie is great.

There's many quotes I loved, maybe I'll rewatch it someday and I'll make a follow up to this review and I'll add screen caps of my favorite quotes/shots. It's just so effing beautiful, this film makes want to meet the creators and give em a thousand kisses followed by a thousand slaps on their faces

I just never understood how the worst character of all (orange-hair dude) turned out to have actually been interested in Hatsumi and not just taking revenge, like wuuuut?

And I do believe Akane deserved much better.

The thing about the movie is that there's characters with flaws much bigger than we can take, and there's people getting hurt and making mistakes but that didn't write the end of their stories: Hatsumi grew up (which we all knew she needed to) Tachibana was an arrogant dude but he treasured Hatsumi (I never really liked Tachibana that much to be honest, but at some point I was ok with him), and her brother did the right thing. And I'm still confused about orange-hair dude but at least Hatsumi didn't run to his arms ever again

Was the movie confusing? It can be confusing if you don't follow what's goin on while processing things in your head. That's a great reason to not watch this if you're a teenager.

And of course I hated the lack of adults in the film, they all needed parents to talk to, protection, a home to go to.

Don't come at me with "but the manga yada yada", Idk about the manga, perhaps there where way worse things and the movie sugar coated things, I don't need that bullshit, if the manga has crazier crap that's mot my business.

After a long hard day at your job, a few minutes before you were done for the day a customer at the store you worked at decided to spill coffee all over you. Now of course this wasn’t their fault in the slightest but on top of the stress from your job it was too much and you let yourself off of work a few minutes early. You checked your notifications and realized your boyfriend, kenma kozume (@/kodzuken) and popular game streamer was streaming and wouldn’t be able to hold you when you got home.

You screamed in frustration in your car as you drove away, angry at the bad luck you’ve been facing today. You check to see if kenma maybe got off stream early and give him a call, but it rings a couple times and goes straight to voicemail. You accept defeat and continue driving, until out of nowhere it starts pouring rain outside.

“Why goddamnit! Of all days I had to not bring an umbrella today was the day,” you mutter as you put up your windshield wipers, hoping the rain would go away by the time you got home. It didn’t. After you finally pull up to your flat in Tokyo, you run, taking all of your stuff through the pouring rain making sure to lock your car. Once you hop into the elevator and wait until it stops at your level (sry if this isn’t accurate lmao I’m not rich 💀) you try to pat yourself dry.

“Y/n, get it together,” you say shivering, hoping that kenmas stream wouldn’t see you as you haven’t been shown on camera yet. Not that your boyfriend is ashamed of you, no, quite the opposite. He knows that some of his fans can be a little, overwhelming to say the least, and would rather keep you away from death threats and bullying online. The elevator finally dings and stops at your flat where you collect your stuff and get into the place you call home. Unable to tell kenma you’re home like you normally do you shoot him a quick text:

After heading over to your shared bedroom and changing into one of his hoodies and sweats, you plop down on the couch and check your phone, seeing a video on TikTok. Apparently it’s a trend to go over and cuddle your s/o while they’re gaming and your bf is a streamer/gamer so you think you should try it on him. Remembering that he has a copy of his stream and you can ask for the footage later, you decide to act now, think later. Surges of adrenaline hitting you in waves, your legs decide to have a mind of their own as you make your way to his gaming room.

Doing a quick knock so that he isn’t so suprised and so you won’t chicken out, you tell him, “bub, I’m coming in ok?” in the most innocent tone you can muster, and open his door, finding him staring at you. No, gaping at you as you make your way over to him looking at his paused video game and the stream chat moving so fast you can only make out a couple words. Some of which being “s/o, lying, sibling, and banana.” Wait maybe that last one wasn’t quite right but you get the point and are shocked at the effect you have. He moved his microphone away from his mouth although its a futile attempt as the high quality technology of his headset picks up the conversation just as easily.

“Kitten what are you doing here? I thought you wouldn’t be home for a couple more minutes and you know how I feel about your face being shown on cams,” the last part sounding very possesive but protective on your end.

Realizing that although you tell yourself it’s just for a TikTok, you didn’t need to lie when giving him a reason and you really do want cuddles. “I’m sorry bub I was just having a bad day at work so I came home a little early and I wanted cuddles. You didn’t respond to my text and I didn’t know you were streaming,” you tell him giving him a look that you know he can’t refuse. As he stares at you dumbfounded, you can’t help laugh a little at the in shock way he looks.

“Fine,” he grits out with no malice and you can tell it didn’t take much to get him to agree. As he moves his microphone back to where it was, you climb onto his lap, straddling his waist, as you wrap your arms around the nape of his neck. “Everyone, meet my... s/o y/n,” he tells the stream while chat goes crazy and you start to get comfy. “We’ve been dating for 3 years now and I haven’t shown their face or revealed I had a s/o because I didn’t want them to receive hate. That being said, now that you all know who they are, please treat them with respect and kindness. They make me really happy,” he says looking at you lovingly as you turn your head to meet his gaze at his words. You blush and turn away, busying yourself with putting his hair back up into a low bun and familiarizing yourself with his steady heartbeat as you cuddle him, slowly falling asleep in his lap.

Kenmas pov: (ahaha bet you weren’t expecting that one)

Now that the stream had ended and I finished my game, winning of course, I was getting sleepy as well, y/n already fast asleep in my lap before I even got 15 kills.

I pick her up watching her snore slightly and drool a little thinking they were the most precious thing ever. As I walk over to our room, careful not to wake them, I murmur subconsciously, “I love you so much baby” not expecting them to repeat the same thing to me in their sleep. When I finally reach our room I lay them down carefully, making sure they wouldn’t wake up as I went to brush my teeth and get ready for bed.

After I finished with hygiene (that’s important kids 😀) and changed into pajamas, I tiptoed back to our bed tucking us both in and cuddling with them, already half asleep.

OMG. OMG. THE KODZUKEN JUST ANNOUNCED TO ME AND THE OTHER 2.5 MILLION PEOPLE ON HIS STREAM THAT HE HAS A S/O. I quickly open Twitter and not to my suprise everyone is freaking out over kodzukens ethereal s/o (thats you babe 😉).

Fire and ice: I feel like I don't even have to explain why this is romantic so I'm just gonna jump straight into the evidence: Yukiko is the teammate with Agi and Chie is the one with Bufu, one of Yukiko’s themes is called “Snowflakes” and there's also the twin dragons special move.

Sun and moon: Might be a stretch but I really do think that Yukiko is the moon, silent, beautiful and graceful while Chie is the sun, energetic, bright and hot to the touch.

Shadows

Shadow Chie reveals that Chie developed an inferiority complex from constantly comparing herself to Yukiko (not surprising but aw :(), and part of this is her not feeling worthy of Yukiko and her company, bUT MEANWHILE YUKIKO HAS THE OPPOSITE PROBLEM WHERE SHE RELIES TOO MUCH ON CHIE,,, like shadow Yukiko literally says says to Chie “Chies my prince, she's a strong prince, or at least she was”, she hoped and relied on Chie to save her from having to take over the inn and having to stay in Inaba,,,,. ALSO WHEN SHADOW YUKIKO'S HEALTH IS LOW SHE SUMMONS A PRINCE SHADOW WTF, WTF WTF WTF, SHE STRAIGHT UP SUMMONS HER PRINCE, CHIE, WHEN SHE’S MOST VULNERABLE????? HELP???

And speaking of shadows, Chie is pretty calm when it comes to rescuing people from the TV world except for Yukiko, she goes absolutely APESHIT, says "You don't know SHIT about how I feel! Yukiko might DIE from this, for crying out loud! I'm going, and that's that!" before running HEADFIRST INTO A MONSTER INFESTED PALACE WITHOUT A PERSONA OF HER OWN,, TRUE LOVE RIGHT THERE BABY. She also almost single handedly beats up a whole ass police station for even suggesting that Yukiko was involved in the murders.

Color theory

I'm a huge rwby fan so colors is definitely gonna have its own section IFSFNS. Anyways, in color theory, colors that are on opposite sides of the color wheel are considered complementary colors, and guess what the most used example for this? Green and red! Green and red always pop out when they're next to each other, and color is very important in p4 (for various reasons but a big example is how all the students at school wear dull colors except for the investigation team, they're just full on power rangers), so id like to think that making Yukiko’s and Chie’s colors the prime example of complementary colors was something intentional made to remind you of how well they work together.

Also: Chie “wow yukiko red looks really good on you” yukiko, twirling her hair “haha thanks do you mind if i wear it for the rest of my life-”. Also side note I’m 100% sure that Rio’s favourite color is red because it reminds her of Hamuko <3.

Comphet and obliviousness

It's very obvious that like, everyone’s in the investigation team suffers from comphet, especially considering their reaction to Kanji coming out (which is, something), but I'm only gonna talk about yukichies; first of all this whole scene screams of comphet, no one just gushes about their friend THAT much:

Also, Chie disapproves of all of Yukiko's suitors cause she's subconsciously jealous, Chie is 100% a baby lesbian cause shes literally like: “haha im not a lesbian, I just cut my hair short and mostly hang out with guys because then I’ll be more masculine and men like girls so-aw shit”.

Also, Inaba is a breeding ground for comphet because it's a rural town in the middle of nowhere in a town where most of the popuñation is old so,,,yeah,,,.Yukiko feels like her only option in life is to take over the Amagi inn and follow in her family's footsteps, which would in turn be like rotting away in Inaba, so I like to think that the Amagi inn is some sort of metaphor for how being yourself is key even though it can disappoint your parents by making you stray from the path they paved for you, but that’s still an important step to take to become a better person and being true to yourself. Now that isn't very different from coming out now is it?

-Yukiko’s and Chie’s designs inspired Tomoe Tachibana and Maria Torres from Trauma Team and they’re hella gay

-Yukiko and Chie are next to each other or side eyeing each other when the other isn't looking in 99% of the official art they're in, I wonder why that is-. Also if  you look through Chie’s gallery 90% of her photos include Yukiko and vice versa.

-Everyone in Inaba knows that Chie and Yukiko are practically dating cause some bullies literally threaten Chie with hurting Yukiko saying stuff like “that precious Yukiko-san of yours” and “So don't you care about what happens to your loved ones” LIKE HELLO???

Fun headcanons and random stuff

-Chie definitely short circuited for a full ten seconds when she saw Yukiko in a yukata for the first time

-I'm sure that when the investigation team meets up like 20 years after p4 they'll be like “wait Yukiko you've been living with Chie for years?? did you get married?” Yukiko and Chie who haven't even started dating officially “no?? what are you talking about- WAIT.”

-Yukiko and Chie: *adopt three cats and a dog and call them their children*, also yukichie “we’re just really good friends :)))”

-Yukiko and Chie definitely made out with each other a couple of times using the excuse of “were practising for when we have boyfriends”

In conclusion, yukiko and chie have the type of love where they've known each other for so long and care for each other so deeply and passionately that they don't need to search for a significant other because deep down they've always known they were each others. They've always pictured the other in their life from beginning to end but have yet to put together that they want to be in each others life romantically because of comphet and just, never really seeing each other as an option because they've just always been friends, nothing more nothing less. This post will not, in any way, try to offend anyone in the Haikyuu!! Fandom, who most probably still doesn’t like/doubt the new arc. Actually, I made this post just to answer a few questions from a friend of mine (who doesn’t have a Tumblr account, btw, but likes to open it anyway). They are, in fact, doubtful of the new arc (but still reading it even tho they said they wanna drop it for a while, lol. Babe, you’re such a DO-M, love you). Probably, coz Hinata didn’t get any or little offers. He is short, period (for a volleyball player). His techniques and skills have gotten so much better since the first time he played. Especially in his 3rd year. Can’t forget that Karasuno placed 3rd in the entire nation then. But he still is, short. Most couches will try to find players who are as good as him, but taller.

Now, pro team aside, I do believe he at least had offers from universities with strong volleyball club. But, I don’t think Hinata was thrilled to continue to a higher education. He hates studying in class after all. Also, his promise to Kageyama is to face him even in the international level, so university route is not a solution (both because of the studying part and because it is risky to spend 4 years in college while he might or might not get pro offers after). This route, however, is the norm in Haikyuu!! universe. I believe most characters who I think want to play professionally will take this route.

As for deciding to go to Brazil and play beach volley, his reason has been explained. By Hinata himself at that. He has to be able to do everything. Spiking, serving, receiving, setting, blocking and all the techniques of those. Beach volley is played by 2 persons only. It is by far, the easiest and fastest way (subjective) for a person to learn anything about volleyball techniques. Also, don’t forget, you play in the sand! I personally know someone who switched from indoor court to beach and then went back to indoor, and you know what? His jumping, stamina, power, and spiking/blocking height have gotten so high! He accidentally let his rival team got a point coz the setter set the ball too low for him, lol. Tho, in all honesty, he did say he had to adjust to the indoor court first before playing well.

I don’t understand why a lot of people still confused by this, even tho it was shown clearly. Maybe because the chapter explaining that was too rushing? So, it didn’t sink well? Hmmm...

Oh and btw, Hinata doesn’t just play beach volley with random people. He was implied to play in tournaments/matches and get paid. Heitor also talked about points. Hinata is that good and famous that Heitor’s girlfriend suggested him to partner up with Hinata. Although, pairing is very casual in Brazil so Hinata definitely changed partner often. Also, when we were shown that Hinata played beach volley at night with random people then met Oikawa, it was not his training part (officially. Hinata still thought it’s a training, I think). He played coz he was depressed previously. And Brazilians play all the time, so he just wanted to release his stress.

“Hoshiumi is also short and he got invited to the Youth Camp. He probably plays pro too, now. Why Hinata can’t be like him?”

In the period when Nationals arc happened, he was taller than Hinata. Not by much, but he is still taller. And he has a far longer experience playing volleyball than Hinata. He started playing in 2nd grade (iirc, Kageyama started playing around the same age). I said above, that couches will search players who are taller but same or even better than him.

Hoshiumi might started volleyball coz he couldn’t join basketball and he wanted to get away from his tall brother’s influence, but the fact remains: he started early. We know what happened to a player who started early: their technique, skill, and game sense are superior. This, is the reason why Hoshiumi was invited to the U19 camp. He has one of the highest overall stats in the series.

Now, Hoshiumi being a pro or not, we don’t know yet. But, personally, I think it’s true. As for why he could be pro and Hinata couldn’t, even tho Hinata obviously was also “little” monster in his 3rd year, I had a hunch that it was because of the U19 camp. Idk in Japan, but if it’s the same like in my country (Asian country), the fact that you were invited to a prestigious camp/training like that, will boost your CV. Add to that, if you apply to the same organization board that managed your camp/training, 95% you will get accepted. I can only think this as the reason why Hoshiumi could be pro far faster than Hinata... Or maybe, Hoshiumi got taller, maybe reached 178 cm-ish. There is an actual player from Japan’s National men team that is 178 cm. He’s a Wing Spiker. His name is Asano Hiroaki.

We don’t know yet whether Hinata was ever invited to the same Youth Camp or not in his 2nd year (the camp is only for 1st and 2nd years), but the selection is tight (I’m still salty that Noya-san wasn’t invited even tho his name is super famous in Miyagi). With chapter 370 which consists of flashbacks, I think we could safely say that Hinata wasn’t invited. We didn’t see him in The Youth Camp building. Instead, he was at Miyagi 1st Year Training Camp building and asking around about opportunity to train beach volley (remember, The Youth Camp and  Miyagi 1st Year Training Camp happen around the same time).

“How Hinata can be pro now? Say, he switched back to indoor, how could he play with a Japanese pro team? Or even, National team considering Furudate wants to write Olympic arc? You said, he might not get offers! Then, it’s even harder for him to get offer now after being under the Japan radar for so long!” 

Honestly, idk too. I can make headcanons, but I still want to see what Furudate will do with that. It’s what makes Haikyuu!! arc fun, the journey and the revelation. So I’m not about to complain to Furudate, coz it’ll be exciting to see how they will execute the “Hinata Shouyou joins pro/National team” arc.

But, if you insist on asking, hmm,,, it’s my headcanon, but, I think it’ll be cool to see Hinata plays a ball boy again (lol, tribute to the best arc for me) for the National team or any pro team. He applied as a ball boy, but in actuality, he wanted to train (or adjust, actually) in indoor court with the best facility. Then, accidentally, there was a ball strayed far and high (kinda like the scene in Shiratorizawa) and he jumped to catch it (super awesome ball boy, lmao) and people saw him and like “WTF! WHAT ARE YOU DOING?! CAN YOU PLAY?!”. Then, he played and people like “HOLY SHIT! COUCH, PLEASE CALL THE OFFICIALS, LET’S SIGN A CONTRACT WITH HIM!”.

It’d be even better if Hinata, knowing Kageyama was there, used a mask and a cap just for the sake of being a smartass and fooling Kageyama. But when he jumped to catch the stray ball, the cap fell and showing his bright orange hair and Kageyama realized who he is and shouted: “YOU!? YOU TOOK TOO LONG, BOKE!!! WHAT HAVE YOU BEEN DOING THESE PAST 3 YEARS?! YOU CAN PLAY, RIGHT?! NOW I HAVE A SET I WANNA PRACTICE, IT’S FAST BUT YOU’RE FAST, YOU CAN REACH IT. C’MON!”. Cue the shocked faces of the others in the room, they were all thinking “Kageyama-kun, he’s not a player...”

Another headcanon is, the high school coaches’ helping hands. Preferably, Washijou sensei. Idk, maybe they could introduce Hinata to someone or someone’s someone in a pro team. Similar to how Aoba Johsai’s coach introduced Oikawa to someone from Tachibana Red Falcons so that he could speak to Coach Flanco.

If not high school coaches, then maybe the players instead? The scenario of someone who was inspired by Hinata when facing him before helping him to get into a pro team is also good.

Uh oh

So it has come to my attention that we'll be getting a manga adaptation of Best Games Fuji Syuusuke vs Kirihara Akaya and to be quite honest I'm shocked.

First of all, when it was announced all the way in..... Whenever it was announced, it was heavily discussed about how they'd go about it. Would they remake the already 3 episode almost match from 2004 or would they follow the manga where at an earlier stage Fuji had showed his maturity?

Let's track back on that. (Solely my opinion so disagreement is understandable given I STILL have yet to even finish the original manga 😭😭)

Anyway....

There were many things that the anime version did not show. For one, they didn't use Echizen but rather Tachibana; which I don't get why but hey, they wanted to change things. Understandable. However, the development Fuji goes through right before going through this match is detrimental to the series itself. I had mentioned this before and will mention it again, this growth that is seen here is only seen when Fuji faces Tezuka in the intra ranking tournament event which is almost 60 episodes later and no where to be seen in the manga.... Yet I think. And it's really important because throughout most of the series you don't see Fuji with the drive that we see here. Even in the anime version, you hardly get to see what goes through his mind. There's one thing that drives him in the anime and it was Tachibana's injury and assault by his opponent which is also important to note that he has an adjective. A motive,a reason to fight with all he's got.

Just the fact that he knew without confirmation prior just Ugggggghhh. Honestly, y'all. Get yourself a boi like Fuji xD

Fuji could've used this fact as a motive but he didn't. It wasn't his reason to defeat Akaya it was a objective he had in mind and that was getting Seigaku past this opponent. Maybe his objective became more pronounced once he realized that it was him that injured Echizen but it's not his main focus and that's very important to his character. In the anime we're mostly forced to believe he needs one to become serious but that's not really case. And although he became somewhat serious with Jirou that wasn't because he wanted to, I feel like he just wanted to not be taken lightly by Echizen which is what I got from that match. BUT EVEN THEN. He still asked to play against the guy that beat his brother so it's still a motive. Haha...I actually forgot he had done that haha haha haha 😐

In the manga, before he knew of Echizen's injury (correct me if I'm wrong because it's been a while since I read it) he had already wanted to become stronger on his own. It was seen that he was with Tachibana solely to practice. Another aspect we NEVER see in the anime. This showed us that he wanted to become stronger on his own, he wanted to be there for his team and above all else, grow.

There's also weakness.

This disadvantage isn't solely a manga thing but I would like to add that I feel this was more impactful than his knee in the anime. Idk about you guys but imagine being in that situation? Fucking terrifying.

I feel like this disadvantage showed another side of him rather than the side we see in the anime. It's aggressive, it's strategic and it's well played. In the anime yes, he is all that but it takes a while. To see THIS within a few chapters and before hitting Nationals is just whoa. I feel like the readers gain a sort of respect when coming to this particular part because well aside from it ever being possible, or who knows, it's pretty valiant that he still keeps pushing.

Then there's just.

Like. Wtf. Why is he remembering Tezuka? Obviously because they're toge- *ahem* 🤣

No but for real. The fact that in the middle of perhaps the toughest match he's had, he's remembering this moment. This moment where his best friend gives him that push. The fact that he thought they were similar only to find out differently I feel was another icing on the cake. The fact that he remembers Tezuka's grueling match with Atobe is what drove him to push himself, evolve and it's beautiful the change we get. Tezuka plays an important part to Fuji's growth here and I think most of it is due to his absence but it's just interesting to note that this is something he thinks back to. The fact that people have overcome his triple counters is what pushes him to really think on what he could do to change and it's something I wish we would've definitely seen in the anime.

I'm sure he's like 50 people in one now in shinteni and I wouldn't be surprised but his early evolution is just wonderful.

AND WE GET TO SEE IT IN ACTION AND I'M GONNA CRY AND I'M GONNA SCREAM AND LOSE EVERY SHIT KNOWN TO MANKIND. WHAT WAS IT THAT I SAID? I'D HATE AKAYA ALL OVER AGAIN? YEAH SOUNDS ABOUT RIGHT BECAUSE HOLY FUCK GUYS. IT'S HAPPENING.
